A rideshare passenger has been charged with a string of offences after a driver was allegedly left battered and bruised.
George Gilto was driving for rideshare firm Ola when he picked up Mark Joseph Smith and one other passenger exterior of a Sydney pub.
“I requested then that he and his passenger had to go get a mask, or I couldn’t take them,” Gilto informed A Current Affair.

Gilto stated he dropped the primary passenger off and continued to the subsequent vacation spot.
It is then Gilto alleges Smith punched him.
Five days later, Smith was charged with assault occasioning precise bodily hurt, injury or destroy property, and impersonating a police officer.
He was granted bail however he’s required to report back to his native police station day by day.
He has a curfew, just isn’t permitted to enter any licensed premises and he cannot drink alcohol or take medication.
He can also be topic to drug and alcohol testing if police suspect he is breached this situation.

This week Ola deactivated Gilto’s account following a grievance in relation to the surveillance cameras in his car.
Gilto shall be out of work till Ola’s investigation reaches an end result.
Gilto claims he did nothing unsuitable.
He has stickers on his automobile, which learn “in car camera recording”, and he claims his passenger knew he was being filmed.
“I’m worried I won’t be able to do what I love – helping people,” he stated.
