It has been revealed {that a} 21-year-old lady died final December after her Voi e-scooter was involved in a collision with a automobile in Northampton. It is the second time a dying has been linked to electrical scooter trials in the city since trials started in 2020.
Northamptonshire Police made the announcement on Friday, May 27. A spokesperson stated: “A road traffic collision involving an electric scooter and an Audi A3 occurred in St Andrews Road, Northampton, at about 6.10pm on Monday, December 6.
“The 21-year-old feminine rider of the e-scooter suffered a leg harm and was taken to hospital for therapy, the place she died on Friday, December 10. An investigation has been carried out by Northamptonshire Police and is now a matter for the coroner’s court docket.”

Northamptonshire police declined to name the deceased, but said it was obtainable from the coroner’s office. Trials of Voi e-scooters began in Northamptonshire in 2020 before being spread around the UK. However, Northamptonshire remains the only place in the country where deaths have been linked to the trials.
In April 2022, Transport Secretary, Grant Schapps, said to the Commons Transport Select Committee: “Out of the over one-and-a-half million energetic members in the trials and the 24.8 million miles lined, there have been two deaths, each in the Northamptonshire trial.”
The first death occurred when 75-year-old Philip Jones died after trying to move a Voi e-scooter that had been left in the middle of a path on October 17, 2020.
