A spokesperson for East Midlands Railway stated: “Around 9pm on Saturday our 5.52pm Liverpool to Norwich service hit an electric scooter left on the tracks near Trowell Junction. No passengers or staff were hurt. The train was taken out of service for repairs and passengers were provided with taxis to continue their journey.”
Meanwhile, British Transport Police stated in an announcement: “British Transport Police were called to the line near Nottingham at 8.45pm on Saturday 9 April following reports of a train hitting a scooter on the tracks, causing the service to stop.
“Officers attended to clear the incident and passengers have been safely transferred to a distinct prepare. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
