Canterbury’s e-scooter trial has been prolonged by eight months, Kent County Council has announced. The transfer comes because the second extension to the scooter’s use, which has proved controversial and divided opinion amongst individuals in areas being examined.
The rental electrical scooters have been first launched in Canterbury in November 2020 when the trial size was set for a yr. In November 2021 the council announced this might be prolonged to March this yr.
Now the shared Bird e-scooters can be permitted for use inside authorised zones till the tip of November 2022. This extension will permit extra knowledge to be collected and reported to the Department for Transport (DfT).

KCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport David Brazier welcomed the chance to proceed to host the trial in elements of Canterbury. He mentioned: “The economic and environmental benefits of electric micro-transport are well documented.
