ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – A rideshare driver is lifeless after being hit by a freight train near downtown Duluth round 5:25 a.m. March 17.
According to the Duluth Police Department, the rideshare vehicle turned stuck whereas driving throughout the tracks near Main and Hardy streets. A passenger contained in the vehicle was in a position to leap out of the vehicle after they noticed the train coming. However, the driver continued to attempt to get his vehicle off the tracks and was struck and killed by the train.
The vehicle was dragged for a number of hundred yards after it was struck. The driver, recognized as 39-year-old Guangyun Jin, was pronounced lifeless on the scene. His household advised CBS46 he drove for Uber.
The indicators on the railroad crossing had been working correctly, by all accounts. However, the police division stated it’s not unusual for automobiles to turn into stuck in that specific spot.
