A string of latest carjackings has prompted a warning to drivers from RCMP in Burnaby, B.C.
Mounties stated Friday there had been 4 carjackings within the final 5 days, three of which focused an unregulated Chinese ridesharing app.
“In each of the incidents a weapon was brandished, but none of the victims were injured,” police stated in a media launch.

Police say the primary incident occurred final Sunday, when a pair of suspects who seemed to be about 16 years outdated brandished a knife at a rideshare driver who had been referred to as to choose them up on Spruce Street between Canada Way and Royal Oak Avenue.
Mounties say the pair claimed to be cops earlier than stealing the automobile which was later recovered.
On Tuesday, police say a suspect brandished a gun whereas attempting to steal a personal automobile from a driver who was nonetheless in a parking storage close to Burford Street and Imperial Avenue round 3 p.m.
The suspect was unsuccessful, police stated, and fled the world.
Around 11:30 p.m. that night time, a suspect used a knife whereas attempting to steal a rideshare automobile selecting up a buyer, Burnaby RCMP stated.

The fourth incident occurred on Elwell Street round 11 p.m. on Thursday night time.
Police stated the suspect brandished a knife and efficiently stole a Mercedes from a rideshare driver who was on his method to choose up a buyer.

Mounties stated the Mercedes was later concerned in a success-and-run crash with a parked automobile, and that witnesses reported seeing the suspect get right into a ready SUV with a number of different individuals inside.

Police stated they consider the 4 incidents are related, however have but to find out a motive.
“We are asking all drivers to be cautious, including rideshare drivers from all services,” Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Mike Mike Kalanj stated.
“It’s concerning that weapons were brandished in each of these cases, and that the suspects claimed to be police to two of the victims. We want everyone who drives in Burnaby to be aware of these incidents.”
