ST. LOUIS–City Council members within the St. Louis County suburb of Creve Coeur will meet tonight, with the regulation of scooters and related autos on the agenda Monday night.
Legislation handed by the Missouri state lawmakers in 2021 additional defines electric bicycles. The metropolis’s proposed ordinance provides the automobile to metropolis codes and specifies the place they, and scooters wouldn’t be allowed.
Under the revised metropolis ordinance, electric bicycles can be outlined as follows:
- “Class 1 electric bicycle”, an electric bicycle geared up with a motor that gives help solely when the rider is pedaling and that ceases to present help when the bicycle reaches the pace of twenty miles per hour;
- “Class 2 electric bicycle”, an electric bicycle geared up with a motor which may be used completely to propel the bicycle and that’s not able to offering help when the bicycle reaches the pace of twenty miles per hour
- Class 3 electric bicycle”, an electric bicycle geared up with a motor that gives help solely when the rider is pedaling and that ceases to present help when the bicycle reaches the pace of twenty-eight miles per hour.
Motorized scooters and bicycles wouldn’t be permitted in any metropolis park, with no bike of any sort allowed touring greater than 12 miles per hour inside a metropolis park.
The City Council meets on the Creve Coeur Government Center, 300 North New Ballas Road, beginning at 7pm.
